Featured in an in-depth profile by Antigravity Magazine, “Gumbo Botanica” is a 5,000-square-foot youth-led mural project at 1101 Elysian Fields Ave., where I served as a mentor artist and Polytab technique trainer, helping to restore public art to a historic site through community collaboration and education.
Lead artists Gabrielle Tolliver, Jade Meyers, and Journey Allen collaborated with youth ages 14–22 from the Young Artist Movement (YAM), Arts New Orleans’ arts education and workforce development program, to design and install a 6,600-square-foot mural for Super Bowl 2025 in New Orleans, as part of the Apple Community Education Initiative.

My favorite part of creating in New Orleans is being surrounded by a deeply rooted culture. Through conversations and interactions with different people, I can find new perspectives to create from.
There are times we all spiral, but it can be so beautiful to spiral into passion.
